Sumithra Velupillai received her M.A in Computational Linguistics from Uppsala University in 2005. She holds a position as a PhD student at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, where she works in the area of Computational Linguistics. Velupillai worked on her Master's thesis within the project Infomat at Nada, KTH, in the area of text clustering and categorization of Swedish scientific medical text. Her thesis resulted in a paper co-written with Magnus Rosell, CSC, KTH, presented at the 15th Nordic Conference on Computational Linguistics in Joensuu, Finland, 2005. Velupillai's main research interests are computational linguistics in general, text clustering, natural language processing, information retrieval, multi-lingual information retrieval, text categorization, biomedical natural language processing.
